Wrote... I only knew Sir Harry through his program "HIGHWAY" which was aired in this area several years ago. A great hole appeared in my life when our cable company no longer carried his program. I had come to regard him as a mentor and close spiritual friend. That may sound impossible when our only contact was through the TV picture tube, but it's true. For some reason he has been much on my mind lately so I decided to search the net to see if his programs might be available on video or DVD. It was thru this search that I learned of his passing. Rest in peace, old friend! I have missed you and will continue to do so. If anyone knows of possible availability of copies of his programs I would be exceedingly grateful to hear.

I was in the same year at school as his daughter Jennifer, and have always enjoyed his sacred songs. The world would be an infinitely happier place if he ruled it. I knew who he was because I had seen him in "Oliver" and I had played the same part in a local production. The wonderful thing was how excited he was to ask me about my experience while I could hardly believe I was even standing there talking to him! I have never seen a single episode of "The Goons", but his FABULOUS show, "Highway", which had aired for many years on Vision TV here in Canada (sadly, it no longer is), established his lovable, talented persona in my mind and that of my family forever. He personified the very best in human nature. I loved the show and his singing. My parents back home in southern India were also shocked to hear of his demise as he was dear to them, as well. Wrote... In the 1970's, when I was still a teenager, Sir Harry Secombe and Myrna Rose recorded a collection of songs from the musical plays of Ivor Novello. Thirty years later I am still listening to Sir Harry belting out Glamorous Night on that same album. That album never reached the commercial heights of a Sergeant Pepper, but to me it is priceless, and my debt of gratitude to Sir Harry and MIss Rose for this gift can never be adequately expressed.

I found out about the loss of Sir Harry tonight as I surfed on to the BBC site to read about Songs of Praise - one of my very favourite programmes - and I feel like I have lost a dear friend. My heart goes out to his family and I will remember them in my prayers. I remember Sir Harry from the film Oliver but most of all from Songs of Praise. Several weeks ago, I awoke from under the bedclothes in America and couldn't help thinking of Neddy and wondered whether he was still alive. Wrote... As an American, I discovered the Goons when a local public radio station broadcasted tapes of the shows in the 1970's. I loved the shows and they inspired me as an actor and comic. A religious cable station in America also broadcasted his 'Highways' show. A friend in Newcastle Upon Tyne kept me aprised about the surviving Goons, and I was sadden to hear of the passing of Sir. Harry. His wonderful good humor and kind nature will be sorely missed in a world that needs the likes of Sir. Harry more than ever. God bless you Neddie.

Wrote... What a sad loss for this world. I can remember attending one of Sir Harry's concerts in outback western australia. It was a very stormy night at the outdoor concert. After telling a rather irreligious joke, there was a huge bolt of ligthening...without missing a beat Sir Harry threw himself to his knees and begged God's forgiveness...then giggled as Only he could do. I will never forget him.

Wrote... I was devasted by the news of Sir Harry's death, my deepest sympathies go out to Sir Harry's wife Myra and family. Harry was the same off stage as on always cheerful and funny. I am also from Swansea and knew his cousin Pam Secombe in fact we are look-a-likes, (Pam and I belonged to the Swansea Amateur Operatic Society). I met Harry backstage of a London Theatre, he also mistook me for Pam. He is in God's hands now and as someone previously said "gooning it up with Michael and Peter" go for it Harry with your voice you will be the best of the best in God's Angels Choir. Let you voice still sing out Harry you are loved and missed by so many all over the World. May God keep you safe.

Wrote... sir harry, a gentle giant among comedians. I was brought up on the humour of the goon shows as my dad and I would sit around the radio every sunday night while living in napier, new zealand.I beleive that zany trio did more for my abilty to see the funny side of life than any lesson in a classroom, and even now i look forward eagerly to replays of the shows on ABC radio. Its still hillarious and I shall never tire of hearing those immortal characters and Ned of Wales, SIR HARRY you were born to make people laugh, that you did. I am forever grateful for finding the Goons and I hope the Almighty has a sense of humour, He'll need it with you around. Rest in peace Harry, you brought humour and music into my life. God bless

Wrote... My thoughts are with Myra and the rest of Harry's family. I have always liked Harry from when I have been very small, although I am a little too young to remember the Goons. Harry always had a terrific smile, a superb singing voice and a great laugh. I feel so touched that I have recieved some correspondance from him in the few eeks before his departing. Wrote... Very sad to hear of Sir Harry's passing, although I knew he had been ill for quite a while. Great to see your tribute pages to him. My late father grew up in the same area and was friends with Harry's brother the Reverend Fred. A few years ago now, dad died in 1985, we all went up to Melbourne to see Sir Harry, and met him backstage where he autographed a Goon Show LP cover for me. I was born in Swansea but they threw me out at a very early age when Mum left hospital, so I now keep up with things Welsh via the Internet.

Wrote... I would like to pay tribute to the late sir Harry Secombe who was a particular favourite of mine since listening to him first on the radio during my young years as a child. Harry seemed to be the one person we all admired & followed throughout his career as Comedian, Actor & Writer. He was an old friend to me although I never actually met him in person. His passing has brought a great sadness to me & so many in this country & all over the world. After shedding tears on the day I heard he had left us all to be a Star & sing with the Angels I know he will serve as a wonderful ambassador in Heaven at peace amongst so many great friends that went on ahead of him, re-united in song & laughter for Evermore!
